Family Life
A rabbit is a mammal. A mammal is an animal that has fur or hair. It is born in the spring and in the summer. Rabbits stay with their mom when they are little. Baby rabbits sleep in a zig-zag pattern. Rabbits drink their mom milk. Baby rabbits are born blind. Baby rabbits are called Kits. Kits are 8 centimeters. They are completely helpless. Sometimes they groom others fur by licking the fur or nuzzling. Kits sleep like humans. A kit is the size of a Chipmunk “a kit is very small.” When the first sign of spring appear, adult bunnies begin their mating season. Rabbits grow fast by the age of six months. This cottontail is ready to start its own family.
